Terms of Service

Terminus Expanse is a gamified platform for learning technical and IT skills — courses, quests, quizzes, hands-on terminal exercises, a skill map, and social features such as guilds, parties, duels, and chat. Some content and features require a paid subscription ("Terminus Plus" or "Terminus Elite").

We may add, change, or remove features, content, or parts of the Service at any time. We'll try to give notice of significant changes, but we can't guarantee that every feature you rely on will remain available forever.

You must be at least 16 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent in your country if higher, to create an account. If you are between that age and the age of majority where you live, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for keeping your login credentials confidential, and for all activity that happens under your account. Tell us right away if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

One account per person. You may not sell, transfer, or share your account, and you may not create an account for someone else without their permission.

Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annual, as selected at checkout) through our payment processor, Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your chosen payment method for each billing period until you cancel.

You can cancel anytime from Settings → Billing; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you keep access until then. We don't provide prorated refunds for partial periods except where required by law.

We may change subscription prices going forward; we'll notify you before a price change takes effect on your next renewal, and you can cancel before then if you don't want to continue at the new price.

Credits, shards, and cosmetic items earned or purchased on the platform have no real-world monetary value, cannot be exchanged for cash, and exist solely for use within the Service. We can adjust balances, rebalance rewards, or discontinue virtual items at our discretion, including to correct errors or abuse.

You may post content through blog posts, chat messages, guild activity, and profile information ("User Content"). You keep ownership of what you create; by posting it, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and distribute it as needed to operate and improve the Service.

You're responsible for your User Content and for your conduct toward other members. The following are not allowed anywhere on the Service, including chat: harassment, hate speech, threats, doxxing, spam or unsolicited advertising, impersonation, cheating or exploiting bugs, and sharing content that is illegal, sexually explicit involving minors, or infringes someone else's rights.

Some of our security-related coursework covers offensive techniques (for example, penetration testing or CTF-style exercises). This content is provided strictly for educational purposes and authorized, legal security testing. You agree not to use anything you learn on the Service against systems you don't own or don't have explicit written authorization to test.

We may remove content, mute, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate this section, with or without notice, at our discretion. Members can report content or messages they believe violate these Terms using the in-product reporting tools; we review reports but don't guarantee a specific outcome or response time.

The Service — including course content, quests, illustrations, the Terminus Expanse name and logo, and underlying software — is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the rights explicitly granted to you to use the Service, we reserve all rights.

You may not copy, resell, scrape, or create derivative works from our course content or platform without prior written permission.

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, pose a risk to other members, or if we discontinue the Service, with notice where reasonably possible.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law — continue to apply after your account is closed.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

These Terms are governed by the laws of France, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the laws of the country where you live.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
