Linux
Filesystems, permissions, processes, and the shell habits that make everything else faster.
What you'll actually learn
This is the foundation everything else in the systems track stands on: a real filesystem hierarchy instead of a folder metaphor, permissions that actually determine who can do what instead of a vague "access denied," processes as the actual unit of everything running on the machine, and enough shell habits that the terminal stops feeling like a wall of text and starts feeling like the fastest way to get something done.
What you'll be able to do
You'll navigate, inspect, and fix a Linux system entirely from the terminal — diagnose a permission problem instead of guessing at chmod flags, find which process is actually using a resource instead of restarting things at random. It's the difference between following steps someone else wrote down and knowing what you're looking at well enough to write those steps yourself.
